To get their hands on heads or a Golden Party Hat, players must accomplish “various objectives” and earn eight gold shards in exchange for their efforts. After the eight shards have all been collected, they can be put together into a Golden Party Hat.
But, not only is the game time-bound however, only one golden hat will be created for each participant. Like their 2001 predecessors, Jagex says of the golden hats that “after the cut-off date, they will never be earned again!”
If the new item will disrupt the game’s economy, and thus lowers the value of the existing party hats or turns into an more expensive item is yet to be determined. Jagex will be celebrating the event in the same way with a change to the game’s Grand Exchange location into “a Golden Party Hat winter wonderland”.
The golden hat is the most awaited event (sorry) to RuneScape’s long-running 20th-anniversary celebrations. It will launch alongside the reintroduction of the partyhat event, it’s the fourth and final stage of the anniversary adventure, Once Upon a Time, available throughout the year.
The appropriate title is Finale appropriately, the chapter is described as “the ending of an adventure that explores RuneScape’s history, present, and future and ends the story’s journey to an end for Relomia The quest’s antagonist.”
Finale will involve players visiting three places – the Black Knight’s Fortress as well as the World Gate, and the Kami Shima island, which might provide glimpses into possible scenarios. Completing the chapter will reward those who complete it with “four Quest points, a new T5 magical dice.
